From Georgette, Jilly & Louise: Margaret was our friend for more than 8 years. We worked together and socialised together throughout that time and became firm friends. We laughed together and cried together and we didn't always agree on everything but that didn't affect the enduring strength of our friendship and the way that we all cared for one another. There was time spent together at work and at our quizzes, where Margaret could always be relied on for a sound knowledge of "older" music (!!xx) and books and movies. There were also the work nights out and the concerts and the usual celebrations like birthdays. Margaret was often sought out for her advice on situations and this advice was always listened to if not necessarily followed! It was no coincidence that Louise called Margaret "Maw" and she in turn referred affectionately to Louise as "The Wean". Margaret's fight with illness was of course an incredibly difficult and stressful time for her and for everyone who loved her. Louise and Georgette spent a lot of time with Margaret in the last few months of her life (as did many others)and Georgette acknowledges that without the support she had from Louise she would have found this difficult time an even greater struggle than it was. Mags - you were our friend. We love you and we miss you every day. We hope God made sure there was plenty of good books, coffee and ashtrays in stock for you arriving or woe betide him!
